Wholesaler Sales Fell 0.3% in June

Washington, DC, August 8, 2019-June 2019 sales of merchant wholesalers were $498.5 billion, down 0.3% from the revised May level and were down 0.2% from the June 2018 level, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. 

The April 2019 to May 2019 percent change was revised from the preliminary estimate of up 0.1% to down 0.6%.

Total inventories of merchant wholesalers were $678.7 billion at the end of June, virtually unchanged from the revised May level. Total inventories were up 7.6% from the revised June 2018 level. The May 2019 to June 2019 percent change was revised from the advance estimate of up 0.2% to virtually unchanged.

The June inventories/sales ratio for merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, based on seasonally adjusted data, was 1.36. The June 2018 ratio was 1.26.
