Fire Damages an Anderson Hardwood Plant

Clinton, SC, October 11, 2006–A fire last night burned nearly half of the Anderson Hardwood Flooring plant in Clinton. All 50 workers in the building were evacuated safely.

According to Anderson president Don Finkell, a plant supervisor discovered the fire in a storage room around 7 p.m., but was unable to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

According to Finkell, the fire reached nearly half of the plant.

Some nearby homes were evacuated, Clinton Fire Marshal David Boyd said.

The company recently announced a $7.5 million expansion that is expected would add approximately 100 jobs to the plant. The company said it plans to move the operations directly affected to another plant.
