Unilin Sues Rona Store for Patent Infringement

Toronto, Ontario, June 12, 2007–Unilin has filed suit against Rona Switzer Building Centre (Orillia, Ontario) for patent infringement. The suit, which was filed by Unilin on June 6,  accuses Rona Switzer of infringement of 4 of its Canadian patents by the sale of unlicensed glueless laminate flooring products: Canadian patents 2,226,286, 2,475,076, 2,522,321 and 2,522,085.

In January 2007, Unilin already obtained a favourable ruling by the United States International Trade Commission which issued a General Exclusion Order against non-Unilin-licensed infringing goods after a 9 day trial on 3 equivalent US patents. This action is a further step in Unilin’s enforcement program to clear the market from non-Unilin licensed glueless flooring.
