Australian Carpet Maker Cuts Time, Saves Energy

Devenport, Australia, Aug. 4, 2008–Woven carpet manufacturer Tascot says it has improved the efficiency of heat transfer around two of its dye vats in a drive to improve their environmental impact.

The upgrade was helped by a grant $5,000 grant from the government’s Cleanbiz program. The manufacturer claims to have cut the heating time for the vats by 60%, saving natural gas usage and lessening greenhouse emissions.

The company said the upgrades are part of an ongoing modernization plan, which started in 1997 when the oil-fired boilers were converted to LPG, before the 2007 upgrade to natural gas.
