Initial Jobless Applications Rose Last Week


Washington, DC, Dec. 1, 2011 — Initial applications for unemployment benefits edged up last week, according to the Labor Department.

Applications rose to a seasonally adjusted 402,000, up from the previous week’s 396,000.

Economists had expected a reading of 390,000 for the week ended Nov. 26.
