Chain Store Sales Up First Week of February

New York, NY, Feb. 9, 2011 — National chain store sales rose 1.7% in the first week of February compared with January, according to Redbook Research.

The Johnson Redbook Index also showed seasonally adjusted sales for the period were up 2.7% from last year.

“Retailers continue to clear pockets of winter goods at markdown, although these no longer represented a significant percentage of business,” Redbook said.
