Consumer Prices Jump in February

Washington, DC, March 17, 2011 — The Consumer Price Index rose 0.5% in February, the largest increase since June 2009, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Core prices, which exclude food and energy, rose only 0.2%.

Gas prices jumped 4.7% in February, above January’s increase but below December’s rise.
