Consumer Spending Increases in February

Washington, DC, March 28, 2011 — U.S. consumer spending rose more than forecast in February on rising incomes, according to the Commerce Department.

Spending increased 0.7%, the most since October, after advancing 0.3% in January.

Incomes rose 0.3%.

Economists forecast incomes would rise 0.4%. The Commerce Department also revised January’s reading up to 1.2% from a previously reported 1%.
