Initial Unemployment Applications Edge Higher

Washington, DC, April 18, 2013 — Initial claims for unemployment benefits rose 4,000 last week to 352,000, according to the Labor Department.

The prior week’s number was revised to show 2,000 more applications than previously reported.

The overall number was broadly in line with economists’ expectations.
