Dalton, GA, April 20, 2012 — Mohawk’s EverStrand carpet, which is made with up to 100 percent post-consumer recycled fiber content, has earned “Environmental Claim Validation” from UL Environment, as has Mohawk’s Wear-Dated Revive collection.
UL is a third-party product safety testing and verification organization.
Each year, Mohawk recycles up to 3 billion plastic beverage bottles, giving PET resins new life as EverStrand and Wear-Dated Revive carpet fiber.
Mohawk said it has diverted more than 30 billion bottles from landfills since 1999.
UL has validated Mohawk’s PET extrusion facility in Summerville, Ga., as a “Post-Consumer Reclamation Facility.” Mohawk said the Summerville mill is the first in the flooring industry to receive the validation from UL Environment.
