
Washington, DC, Oct. 11, 2012 — Initial claims for unemployment benefits fell last week to their lowest level in more than four years, according to the Labor Department.
About 339,000 people filed for first-time unemployment benefits in the week ended Oct. 6, down 30,000 from the previous week.
That’s the lowest level of initial claim filings since February 2008.
