Initial Jobless Claims Fall Last Week

Washington, DC, Aug. 7, 2014 — Initial claims for unemployment benefits fell by 14,000 to 289,000 in the week ending Aug. 2, according to the Labor Department.

The four-week moving average of initial claims fell to 293,500 from 297,500 in the previous week to mark the lowest reading since February 2006.
