Mortgage Applications Rebound Last Week

Washington, DC, Dec. 11, 2013 — Mortgage application volume increased last week, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association.

MBA said its index climbed 1% in the period ended Dec. 6 after falling 12.8% the previous week.

The refinance index rose 2.1%, while the purchase gauge advanced 0.9%.

The average rate on a 30-year fixed loan rose to 4.61%, the highest since Sept. 20, from 4.51%.

Refinancing activity accounted for 64.6% of total volume.
