
Washington, DC, April 16, 2014 — Housing starts rose 2.8% in March to a seasonally adjusted rate of 946,000, according to the Commerce Department.
This is 5.9% lower than the rate one year earlier.
Building permits were a seasonally adjusted 990,000, 2.4% below the revised February rate.
The numbers missed expectations by economists.
