
Washington, DC, May 13, 2014 — Retail sales growth fell sharply in April, according to the Commerce Department.
The government said Tuesday that sales rose just 0.1% last month, after jumping 1.5% in March.
Auto sales increased 0.6% in April. However, excluding autos and gasoline, retail sales fell 0.1%.
