Sao Paulo, Brazil, October 26–Brazilian exports of ceramic tiles have surpassed, in the period between January and September 2004, the total shipped by the sector in the whole of 2003.
In the Jan-Sep 2004 period the exports income totaled US$251.68mil against US$250.7mil in 2003.
In August the sector beat the historical exports record with deliveries of US$33.66mil in the month. The expectation is a turnover of US$330mil in the external market, 30% up 2003. The majors Eliane, Cecrisa and Portobello are responsible for largest part of the sector’s deliveries that in 2003 represented 20% of the 530mil m3 produced in the country.
