Consumer Sentiment Edges Down in July


Ann Arbor, MI, July 13, 2012 — The University of Michigan-Thomson Reuters consumer-sentiment index fell to a reading of 72 in July from 73.2 in June.

Economists had expected a July reading of 73, affected by views on Europe and U.S. fiscal uncertainty.

The sentiment gauge averaged about 87 in the year before the most recent recession.
