Fewer File for Unemployment Benefits Last Week

New York, NY, Sept. 19, 2013 — Initial claims for unemployment benefits totaled  309,000 last week, according to the Labor Deparment.

That was up from the previous week, which had some reporting irregularities, but down from 323,000 the week before that.

Economists predicted 330,000 applications.
