House Prices Rose in October, FHFA Says

Washington, DC, Dec. 20, 2012 — U.S. house prices rose 0.5% in October, according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s monthly house-price index.

Compared to a year ago, prices are up 5.6%, according to the FHFA index, which is based on data from Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac mortgages.

The index is 15.7% below its April 2007 peak.
