Initial Jobless Claims Decline

Washington, DC, Feb. 28, 2013 — The number of people who applied for regular state unemployment benefits dropped 22,000 to 344,000 in the week ended Feb. 23, according to the Labor Department.

Economists had expected a new claims level of 362,000.

The number of people collecting unemployment insurance dropped to the lowest level since June 2008.
