Initial Jobless Claims Near Six-Year Low

Washington, DC, Dec. 5, 2013 — Initial applications for unemployment benefits declined 23,000 last week to 298,000, almost a six-year low, according to the Labor Department.

Applications have fallen in seven of the past eight weeks.
