Jobless Claims Fall to Five-Month Low

Washington, DC, Sept. 29, 2011 — New claims for unemployment benefits fell to a five-month low last week, according to the labor Department.

Jobless claims fell 37,000 to a seasonally adjusted 391,000, well below economists’ expectations for 420,000.

Claims the previous week totaled 428,000.
