Washington, DC, June 21, 2007– Jobless claims for state unemployment rose by 10,000 to 324,000 in the week ending June 16, according to a report from the Labor Department.

 

It was the highest level of claims since April.

 

The four-week moving average of new claims rose by 2,500 to 314,500, a six-week high.

 

The number of people continuing to collect unemployment benefits rose by 39,000 to 2.523 million in the week ending June 9. The four-week average of continuing claims fell by 250 to 2.500 million. The insured unemployment rate stayed at 1.9%
