Jobless Claims up 4,000 Last Week

Washington, DC, September 13, 2007—Jobless claims rose 4,000 to 319,000, for the week ending September 8, according to the Labor Department.

 

The four-week average of new claims fell by 1,000 to 324,000.

 

The number of workers continuing to collect unemployment benefits fell by 6,000 during the week ended Sept. 1 to 2.58 million.

 

The four-week average of continuing claims rose by 9,000 to 2.58 million.
