Poll Shows Americans Growing More Optimistic

New York, NY, Feb. 16, 2011 — Most Americans believe the U.S. is still in a recession, but they are more optimistic about the future, according to a new CBS News poll.

CBS said that 37% of Americans think the recession is nearly over and that the recovery has begun. As many as 57% do not think that’s true.

More Americans are confident about their own finances, CBS said; 60% are at least somewhat confident, a significant increase from 47% two years ago.
