Retail Sales in July Strongest Since March

Washington, DC, Aug. 12, 2011 —  Retail sales in July rose the most since March, according to the Commerce Department.

Sales rose 0.5%, in line with analyst forecasts and following an upwardly revised 0.3% gain in June.

Excluding autos, sales increased 0.5%, well above forecasts for a 0.2% gain.
