Toray Plans Four New Compounding Plants in China

Tokyo, Japan, Jun. 4–Toray plans to expand its resin compound production facilities in China (four new production units) and Thailand (to 20,000 tons/y) by 2006.

In Malaysia, the company produces ABS and will construct a PBT plant in a joint venture with BASF. In China, the company plans a new nylon 6 polymerization plant (start up planned for 2006).

In 2005, ABS capacity will be increased by 20,000 tons/y and the 60,000 tons/y PBT unit will start up in 2006.
