Chicago, IL, July 30, 2012 — Building products firm USG Corporation reported a second quarter net loss of $57 million, down from a loss of $70 million reported a year ago.
Second quarter net sales were $825 million, up 8% from second quarter 2011 net sales of $761 million.
“Our businesses performed well in the second quarter despite weak demand compared to long-term averages,” said CEO James S. Metcalf.
“We are seeing the signs of a recovery in our core markets, and will continue to focus on reducing costs and improving margins as we work towards positive net earnings.”
